Lost Dog Policy

Immeadiate Action

In the unlikely event that a dog goes missing whilst in the care of Nellie & the Pack, the following steps will be taken immediately:

1. An immediate and thorough search of the surrounding area will be conducted.

2. The owner and/or emergency contact will be notified as soon as possible.

3. Local dog wardens and nearby veterinary practices will be contacted.

4. A report will be filed with the local council's stray dog service.

5. Details will be shared on local lost dog social media groups and community pages.

6. If the dog is microchipped, the microchip database company will be notified.

7. Rosie Lunn will remain actively searching and coordinating efforts until the dog is found.

Owner Obligations

To help prevent a lost dog situation and aid in a swift recovery, the owner agrees to:

1. Ensure their dog wears a collar with an ID tag displaying the owner's name, address, and phone number at all times during walks, as required by law.

2. Ensure their dog's microchip details are up to date and registered to the correct address and phone number.

3. Provide Nellie & the Pack with a recent, clear photograph of their dog for identification purposes.

4. Inform Nellie & the Pack of any known escape tendencies, fear triggers, or behavioural traits that may increase the risk of the dog bolting or becoming lost.

5. Provide accurate and up-to-date emergency contact details.

Liability

Nellie & the Pack takes every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety and security of all dogs in its care. However, dogs are unpredictable animals and incidents can occur despite best efforts. Nellie & the Pack shall not be held liable for the loss of a dog where all reasonable steps have been taken to prevent such an occurrence and to recover the dog. The owner acknowledges that off-lead exercise, where agreed upon, carries an inherent risk and accepts responsibility for authorising off-lead activity. In the event that a dog is lost due to proven negligence on the part of Nellie & the Pack, liability will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Nellie & the Pack maintains appropriate insurance to cover incidents arising during the provision of services.

Terms & Conditions

Liability

By signing this agreement, the owner confirms that their animal has no known history of biting, aggressive behaviour, or unprovoked attacks towards people or other animals. Rosie Lunn (Nellie & the Pack) reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services for any animal that displays aggressive behaviour, including but not limited to biting, lunging, or excessive aggression. The owner accepts full liability for any injury, damage, or loss caused by their animal to third parties, other animals, or property during the service. Nellie & the Pack will not be held liable for any injury, illness, or loss of the animal arising from unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to escape, theft, natural disasters, or veterinary emergencies. In the event that the animal falls ill or is injured whilst in the care of Nellie & the Pack and the owner cannot be contacted, Rosie Lunn reserves the right to seek veterinary attention or take any action deemed necessary for the welfare of the animal. Any veterinary fees or associated costs incurred in such circumstances are the sole financial responsibility of the owner. The owner consents to their animal being transported in Rosie Lunn's vehicle, which is fitted with crash-tested crates secured in the boot. While every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of the animal during transit, Nellie & the Pack shall not be held liable for any injury or distress caused during transportation unless due to proven negligence. The owner consents to Rosie Lunn having access to their property for the purpose of collecting and returning the animal when the owner is not present. The owner agrees to provide a suitable means of entry (e.g. key, key safe code) and accepts responsibility for ensuring the property is safe for entry. Nellie & the Pack will not be held liable for any loss or damage to the property unless caused by proven negligence. The owner is responsible for ensuring their animal is up to date on all vaccinations and is in good health prior to each service.

Payments/requirements

All animals must be paid for in advance by the Sunday prior to the week commencing to guarantee your animal's place for the following week if payment is being made via bank transfer. Payment can also be made through the Nellie & the Pack website at the time of booking. Failure to make payment by the Sunday deadline may result in your animal's service slot being released to another client. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled service. If a service is cancelled by Nellie & the Pack due to extreme weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, a replacement service will be offered. In periods of extreme heat, walk times may be adjusted to earlier in the morning to ensure the safety and comfort of the dogs. Midday walks will be replaced with a check-in visit during hot weather. The owner will be notified of any schedule changes as soon as reasonably possible. Prices are subject to change and any adjustments will be communicated with a minimum of two weeks' notice.
